My Students

Our school is extremely diverse ethnically and socioeconomically. We have poor and middle-class students of all backgrounds.

Our students are accepting, warm, and welcoming, and grateful for the opportunities they are given.

Our school environment is as healthy for young people as I have ever seen, and it shows when our students go out for competitions and trips. Our school is known in our local area for these characteristics and yearly performs at a high level compared to other schools with similar demographics.

My Project

We have begun this year in distance learning and have no idea when we will return to classrooms. This has made it difficult for us to imagine how we can do hands-on activities.

With Gizmos we will be able to give the students opportunities to do scientific investigations while we are not meeting at the school.

Further, they will be able to work on many of these activities independently during our asychronous time. In this way we can deliver something closer to what we may deliver in the classroom. Students will be able to practice scientific investigation even though they will not have access to the resources at our school site.
