My Students

Give us a chance to share our voices! My students have not had the opportunity to share their voices through song, acting and poetry. We lack the equipment to allow these experiences through the Arts.

My students live in a poverty stricken area.

They are part of a large inner-city district that lacks funding for additional instruction in the Arts. The district is still able to supply some students with enrichment courses such as art and music. Our school has a diverse demographic of ethnicity including Hispanic, Cambodian and Turkish students. We strive to enrich each student's life through the arts, self-advocacy and community partnership.

My Project

My students will be able to use the microphones and microphone stands to give presentations, musicals, plays and concerts. In the past it has been difficult because we only have two microphones that work. We need more equipment so that our Arts Programs can be successful. We plan on performing a musical a short time after we have enough of equipment. The musical the students want to perform is Seussical, which is not only fun but can be tied in with Reading and Literature instruction. We will be able to use the microphones in our gymnasium so that we can have more space available for parent attendance during our concerts. This will allow a community partnership and draw towards supporting our students

This project will open many doors to my students.

Not only will it make concerts and plays easier to perform but it will allow the opportunity for more similar experiences. These experiences are the things we remember for the rest of their lives.
