This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are talented and hopeful. My school is a place that nurtures that talent and builds hope. For many though, our school isn't just a place to learn. It is a also a place where they can feel safe in a neighborhood that isn't always a safe place to be. Despite all the challenges my students face, they are bright and eager to learn. My classroom is a place where learning happens. My classroom is a place where books are essential to their development.

We know our students are diamonds in the rough- just waiting to shine!

Using these books will help them to shine and show their full potentials!

My Project

The books I am asking for my students are high quality leveled text with a variety of genres. These books are designed to help students practice certain targeted reading skills.

Unlike many decodable books, these books have meaningful stories and engaging illustration that keep the students engaged.

The diverse characters have many characteristics that our students can relate to. Many of the characters are used throughout the different leveled books, making it easier for students to follow and engage with the stories.

Once students are near mastering the skills, they are allowed to take the books home and practice reading them with their parents. This not only will increase their fluency and comprehension skills but it will also create a reading culture at home and allow parents participate in the learning. Please consider helping my students to grow into great readers!
