My Project

I see over 100 students every day in the school library. Every class that visits listens to books read aloud, whether it be a picture book or a chapter in a novel. Students are engaged and excited to listen to stories when they visit, but unfortunately the place where they sit right now does not give them the space they need.

My current story rug is too small to hold all of my students on it.

Students are either sitting too tightly together to which doesn't allow them the space they need to have calm bodies and stay healthy, or they are not on the rug at all which may make them feel less like a part of the group. The dots on the carpet allow students to easily see visually where they should sit their body to allow enough space to sit and listen. The pleasing blue colors makes for an inviting spot to prepare to listen.
