Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are great! They are smart, they are excited to learn and they are Artists, but 60% of my students are from low-income homes. We are in urgent need of supplies. The art supplies they currently have are very limited (colored pencils, watercolor palettes, tempera paint, and paper).

I want to create lessons that will keep my students motivated, engaged, and excited to create, but that is difficult to do with our current supplies.

My Project

My students are beginning art students who are being introduced to the world of art and learning new skills that can be used across subjects, and I want to open their eyes to the many types of art mediums possible.

I want to provide my students with quality supplies to help them feel like valued artists.

Oil pastels are very versatile and will be used for drawing and painting.

I am also excited to teach my students how to make dreamcatchers. Students will learn about the symbolism and background of dream catchers how to weave and decorate their own dream catchers.
