Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our biology class, students design their own experiments to learn about ecosystems and what make them tick. They are currently investigating how disturbances to the environment can impact ecosystems. Students are interested in aquatic ecosystems and what may be causing the bleaching of coral reefs (such as those in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia).

This salt water aquarium will give students the tool they need to create the environment for corals to thrive, so they can see how they grow and live optimally.

By caring for coral, they can appreciate first hand the specific conditions necessary for their growth, and thus understand how disrupting these conditions could lead to their demise. Thank you in advance for giving our students the chance to do real science!
