Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are engaged and motivated to learn. We have a "melting pot" of cultural diversity and needs. From English language learners, hearing impaired to varied learning disabled. I work in a Title I school with 90 percent free lunch (low income).

Our student population is in need of enrichment activities that enhance learning, increase motivation and foster school cultural togetherness.

By contributing to this project, you immediately impact NYC students in dire need of resources that make education a priority in their lives!

My Project

Our school is starting two new basketball teams next school year! We are really excited to expand our athletics dept with our new Gym teacher. We are in need of a durable heavy-duty basketball backboard and hoop so that it can last for many years of daily usage by our energetic young students that LOVE the game of basketball.

We are excited that our school, Queens Academy high school, will join the PSAL local league with a basketball team for the upcoming school year.

Additionally, this will greatly impact our smaller gym class. Students will be able to utilize an actual hoop compared to a makeshift rim.
