This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am the Pre-K physical therapist for a NYC public school. We have 4 regular pre-k classrooms and one special education class. I mostly work with the special education population (limited verbal expression with gross motor delays) however I plan on sharing the requested items with all the pre-k students at the school. These items are also durable and will last many years to come.

My Project

Our pre-k kids do not have either an indoor or outdoor playset! They have nothing to climb on or slide down. Having this equipment will allow them to work on gross motor skills and movement planning.

Unfortunately our inner city school does not have indoor or outdoor climbing/slide equipment for pre-k and I will be setting up this play-set in a classroom on a carpet and all the 3-k and pre-k students will be able to access it.

The current lack of equipment is an extreme detriment to the motor development of these children. This piece of equipment is a small start. They will need more.
