My Students

Bringing math back to it's roots; old-school styling. The new wave in math education is learning reasoning behind the methods- sometimes, we just need to get our hands on something, instead of just trying to wrap our minds around it!

Dixie families are great!

Because we are not a Title I school, Dixie parents and PTA have to help fund most projects, materials, and trips. While all of our students are bright and talented, math is a difficult subject that needs more than paper and pencil to be accessible to all.

My Project

I am requesting 1 Place Value kit and 5 Place Value packs for my students. Having the base ten cubes will allow my students who need more concrete visual and tactile methods to better understand the basis of second grade math- place value in adding and subtracting. We are expected to be familiar with numbers in a variety of ways and be able to accomplish math problems mentally; this is a good start!

The cubes will be used all year in a variety of methods and lessons to make even the most complicated problems clear!

I can't wait to see how excited my struggling students will be to have something new to work with!
