My Project

Our school is a Title 1 and Title 3 school. We have a high percentage of students who come from low-income families, which puts them at an even greater disadvantage. We also have a large population of English as a New Language students. We have created extracurricular activities to provide our students Social-Emotional Learning. We have created a school club.

The school club enriches the lives of students through exposure to culture, history, food, etc.

The club consists of field trips on Saturdays, taking students to places throughout the New York City area, with plans to expand to the tri-state area. So far, we have taken our students to the IMAX Theater, Bowling, Upstate NY to see foliage, walking tours throughout historical parts of NYC, and most recently to the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. We take photographs of all our trips, and we would like to give each student a passport so they can have a record of all the trips they attended. We are requesting mini-instant cameras, contact sheets, and instant film to make their memories come alive.
