My Project

Students can often feel intimidated by the writing process. They don't always see themselves as writers or believe it's just too hard. My plan is to create a beautiful, functional and customizable space in our room filled with tools to help students feel confident in their writing process. By providing different surface options, flexible seating and dedicated spaces, every student will have the opportunity to find what works for them.

By contributing to this project, you will help create a space that inspires kids to know they have a seat at the writers' table.

Items as simple as variable writing surfaces, quiet chairs and options for seating can make a huge difference for making students feel like they belong. With these choices, students begin realizing that they have the power to find what works for them (and that writing CAN work for them!). It will reinforce the writer's workshop model that helps to create a community of confident writers in the classroom.
