My Project
Give my students a seat at the table!
There’s nothing quite like the great outdoors!
Help me provide a picnic table for our outdoor classroom so our students have permanent structures to work and learn at.
Our school has partnered with Reflo Sustainable Water Solutions and we are set to begin construction on a greener, healthier playground by removing approximately 43,100 square feet of asphalt.
While learning outdoors and in the fresh air, we can boost academics and our students will show improvements in focus, attention, memory, creativity, and critical thinking.
Our schoolyard redevelopment includes a shaded outdoor classroom complete with seating and materials to support outdoor learning. Raised beds and mindfulness gardens will provide pollinator habitat and calm, relaxing areas to support social-emotional well-being. Nearby green infrastructure including trees, bioswales, and native plantings also serve as unique learning spaces. Interpretative signage will support student-curated tours and encourage learning through self-guided exploration. Communication boards will provide additional support for students to share their learning and emotions as they explore the schoolyard.
To support student learning and growth in these new outdoor spaces, we need permanent, accessible seating to complete the classroom areas.
