Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How do you find out about the latest news around the world? As adults, we are able to read and comprehend a newspaper and news reports on television, which is tailored to an adult audience. But what about kids? Don't they have a right to know what's going on in the world?

My class is comprised of a wide range of students: visual learners, auditory learners, hands-on learners, low level readers, high level readers, Spanish and English speaking learners.

No matter how they learn or where they are in their learning journey, they hunger for information. Our school is located in a poor neighborhood, and about 50% of the students' parents are struggling to make ends meet at home.

My Project

When we receive these valuable resources, my students will have more sources to refer to when creating argumentative essays. They will be able to compare information amongst a variety of articles to weigh the value of each in specific content areas. These magazines will support us in literacy, math (charts), social studies, and science.

As educators, we try to provide the best learning experiences we can for our children.

If our students are unable to travel around the world and meet important people or visit important landmarks in our history, then we have an obligation to bring it to them. Through the use of Time for Kids and Scholastic Magazines, I hope to engage my students in knowledge about people, cultures, and places around the world, as well as keeping them up to date on current events that affect us all.
