Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach full day kindergarten in a high poverty year-round public school in Illinois. I have an awesome group of 23 kindergarteners who just love learning about science!

We spent some time this year learning about living things, which the kids took great interest in. It was disappointing, however, that we didn't have any LIVE animals for them to observe and feed their hunger for fish knowledge.

Next year and in the years to come, I'd love to have an aquarium in the room for the children to observe and record information about live fish. It'll really make the unit I teach about Goldfish and Guppies come to life and increase student achievement in the area of science. As a bonus, I'd like to put this tank near our "Safe Space" where kids go to cool down and relax.

Your support of this project will provide my students with an opportunity to investigate, observe, and record all there is to know about Goldfish and Guppies. Please help inspire my young scientists by providing this aquarium for them. Give a kid to fish and he'll eat for a day. Give him an aquarium and he'll love science for a lifetime.
