Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are bilingual diverse learners. They are kind and very respectful. As preteens and teenagers, they are learning new things about themselves and the world around them.

My students are being taught to demonstrate honor, courage, and commitment inside and outside of the classroom setting.

They work hard and they are learning to be good to all people.

We have a school-wide campaign centered around being good to all people for this year. My students love learning new skills and creating things they can share with others. They live on the Northwest side of Chicago. Most of the students come from low-income families.

My Project

Having new books will bring joy and excitement to my students as their love for reading increases. I chose graphic novels to give to my students to inspire and encourage them to use their imagination as they are engaged in reading for pleasure.

With these new books in the classroom, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books to enhance and foster independent reading.

Learning to love reading will increase vocabulary, writing skills, analytical thinking skills, and creativity. My students will develop skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.
