My Students

My students are the sweetest. They entered my class filled with excitement and an eagerness to learn! More than 85% come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside, causing the growth in their oral language to be stifled.

They were starting to revel in reading, learning new things about the world around them.

And their writing was beginning to explode!

My Project

In September my students and I embarked on this incredible Kindergarten journey! All the students worked so hard. The community was growing strong, relationships were being built. The children were growing in their Reading and Writing. I was proud of them then...and even more proud now! They are persevering through this mess of a time! But I know how hard this is and I know that most of them are struggling Almost all do not have the materials on hand that they need for this “Stay at Home” classroom of learning.

I want them to continue their academic progress and not stress about the small stuff.

The small stuff being the items I mentioned that are not readily available to them at home. I tried to send them off the last day with some supplies that we had in the room, but I know it was not nearly enough. And in our wildest dreams, we never anticipated what was to come. We had no time to prepare their "new classroom" with the supplies they would need.

It breaks my heart during remote learning when we are at a live meeting and a child tells me they do not have paper or sharpened pencil to participate in the "How To Draw" project we are having.

The items I am requesting will only serve to improve the climate in many households and set their parents/guardians at ease, knowing that we didn’t forget them, we still care, we will always care, we are here for them and their children, always wanting them to succeed. I need your help to do this. Financially, I cannot handle this expense.
