My Project
I am a Social Worker in an urban school district and work with students who attend an alternative high school. Many of our students come from low-income households, making it difficult for them to afford the necessary supplies for their education and personal needs. Additionally, our students have faced adverse challenges which have led them to complete their education in an alternative program. Some of our students are parenting teens and others are working full-time or part-time jobs to financially support themselves and their families. However, despite any challenges or obstacles our students may face, they are bright, resilient, and determined to graduate from high school. I will be facilitating a weekly lunch group that will enable teen girls to discuss some of the stressors they face as well as work on identifying and practicing healthy coping skills. Additionally, I would like for the teens to have access to personal hygiene items that they may need to take home. My ultimate goal is to support students with improving their ability to cope with life's stressors which increase their ability to achieve success with their academic studies.
Your donation of food items and personal hygiene products would allow students to have access to snack items during our weekly lunch groups as well as much needed essential products that they may not have the financial resources to purchase.
I will also have resources that I can use to help students learn healthy coping skills. Our students are eager to learn and succeed, and with your assistance, I can help to alleviate some of the burdens that they face. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these young individuals and contribute to their academic journey. Any contribution, big or small, will be greatly appreciated.
