This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love my girls' empowerment group because it creates a safe and nurturing space for African American girls to thrive. By providing snacks during our afterschool restorative circles and programs, we remove the worry about where to get food, allowing the girls to fully engage in learning about themselves and navigating the unique challenges they face. This not only fosters a sense of community but also ensures they are nourished physically and emotionally.

With these gatherings, the girls can connect, share their experiences, and support one another without the distraction of hunger.

It’s empowering to see them inspired and motivated, focused on their growth and resilience. Together, we’re building a foundation for them to excel in their lives, armed with knowledge and confidence to face whatever comes their way.

Ms. Bricourt-Fray High School for Law Enforcement & Public Safety Grades 9-12
