Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are eager scholars who approach every challenge with enthusiasm. They are a competitive bunch and welcome friendly competition. In our classroom, we work collaboratively on a daily basis and the students have learned to lead their own groups, complete research assignments in teams, and have learned to respect the opinions of others. I went into the school year with the goal of making every child open their eyes to the strengths and characteristics that their classmates bring to their classroom and they have made me proud. Every day they show a little more compassion and understanding towards one another. They have learned to voice their opinions without hesitation because they know they will be received with an open mind.
I encourage them to be thinkers and to expand their knowledge daily.
I love their inquisitive nature and the positive attitude with which they tackle every task.
My Project
The love of reading is built through exposure. These books will provide my students with a variety of titles to make them curious. Struggling readers sometimes shy away from reading because they have yet to find a book title that has captured their interest and hooked them into the story. My hope is that these books will pull those readers in and create a love of learning and a strong foundation.
By donating these book titles to our classroom, you will not only be building our classroom library, but you will also be providing some students with exposure to topics and experiences that they may not have the chance to experience in their lifetime.
Books can become an escape for struggling children, an adventure for those who seek new people and places, and a haven for those who seek comfort within the pages. By supporting this project, you will be personally affecting the life of at least one child who gets to escape reality and meet magical characters, visit foreign lands, and learn the history of our ancestors and country.
