Our library is a place of fun, excitement, and exploration for students Pre-K to fifth grade. We are a Title 1 school with a high poverty rate. Many of our students do not have access to a computer at home and therefore lack basic keyboarding and computer knowledge. There are not enough computers in our library for every child and our library budget is rather small.
Chromebooks will greatly help our students increase their knowledge of computers which will aid in the success of their academic future.
Please donate to our project so that every child can have a chromebook during library lessons.
Having a set of Chromebooks in our library will allow each student to have his/her own device rather than having to share. This will enable students to follow along with my lesson as I model basic typing skills for the lower elementary to advanced computer skills with the upper elementary. The students will be able to work on individual research projects simultaneously rather than having to take turns which will increase the efficiency of the time they have in the library. I will also make them available to teachers to use for STEM and include lessons on introducing Google Docs for my 5th graders.
By donating to our project, Giddy for Google, each time a class visits the library students will have access to chromebooks to enrich their technology knowledge and help them succeed academically in the world of computers.
