This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am currently co-teaching in a Let's Grow Program for three year old students in an urban setting. My students are from varied family situations but all come to our school with an eagerness to learn that we hope continues throughout their academic career.
Like stars shining in the night, my students shine with a love for learning that can't be denied.
What we lack in resources we make up in enthusiasm. We use the tools we have at hand to forge our futures but we need all the help we can get, and even though our parents want the best for their children as much as any parent does sometimes they aren't always able to provide the material things that all children need or desire. Even though we are back in a “normal” setting we are providing not only the academic instruction we are trying to make up for the lack of outside play that was lost. Please help us help them expel that pent up energy.
These items will allow our students to expel some of the pent up energy and allow them to be prepared to calm and be more receptive to using their mental muscles. The bikes work all their muscles, the balance beam helps them concentrate on balance and focus to accomplish a task. The balls and hoops help them concentrate and using upper level thinking to make all their shots! Of course to keep everything in top shape ready to go we need the multi use ball inflator. As anyone that works or has kids know sometimes you can't accomplish much until you get those wiggles out!
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
