My Students

Have you ever started a new school year without fresh new supplies in your backpack? Having your teacher pass out fun get to know you sheets and not having a pencil to write with? This is the case for many of my students on the first day of school. Let's change that feeling!

I work with second grade students who are on fire to learn and ready to start learning as soon as they walk through the door.

They are buzzing with excitement for the new year, and stories to tell. Our school embraces these moments by allowing these first few days of school allowing the children to learn their new teacher, classmates, and classroom. At the beginning of the year they are sponges and ready to absorb anything you throw their way.

My Project

Through you helping us supply my students with 2 new iPads and basic supplies for the first day of school. My students will have multiple opportunities to share who they are, refresh what they learned last year, and explore new rigorous learning opportunities from day one. This will prevent many students who come in the first week of school without supplies because their parents could not afford, as well as expose students to technology they will be using throughout the year. My classroom lacks with technology, teaching twenty-five second graders how to prepare for a technology future is very difficult, but with your help, things can change. Students will be able to explore how to turn their summer adventures into movies in iMovie, take reading diagnostics to see how much they gained or lost over the summer, listen to stories for those who come in struggling, and enjoy fun learning apps they might not experience out side of the classroom.

This project will make a huge difference to that child who walks in with an empty book bag.

They will not feel alone and separated because they have to ask for a basic supply like a pencil, these supplies will already be located on their desk as a welcome gift from their teacher. It will allow the student to feel at home in the classroom and place where they can learn and become the super second grader I know they can be.
