My Students

Excitement and engagement is what I see when our SMARTboard clicks on. My students are highly active and motivated students but it takes a lot to get them engaged. They have limited attention spans and all their modalities need to be tapped into when teaching lessons.

I teach a 4th Grade ICT class where 40% of my students receive Special Education services and 60% are in General Education.

They are full of energy and enthusiasm and all have unique personalities that brighten my day. The challenging part is making sure they are engaged and focused at all times. They require a lot of attention and one-to-one assistance. They love being in school and learning. Besides having Special education students in the class we also have English Language Learners, a child with hemiplegia, and many diagnosed with ADD. Our public school is in a low income area and many of my students are from housing projects in the neighborhood. Some families can not afford to supply their children with even some of the basic tools needed for learning.

My Project

We use our SMARTboard for 85% of our lessons. The children are totally engaged when they can be interactive with it. These learning games are just the support we need to help the variety of learning styles in our class. They are hands-on learners and the resources needed to stimulate them are usually costly. These SMARTboard games will support the curriculum taught in 4th grade in an inviting and fun way. There are reading comprehension and math games that will support them when they take the State ELA and Math test this year.

These games will be such an asset to instruction and my class wont even realize how much they are learning with all the fun they will be having.

It is very difficult appealing to the various learning styles of our class and these games will just be another aid in helping our students achieve success and independence.
