Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My third graders are inquisitive, full of energy and they have an eagerness to learn that is unmatched! It is a pleasure to walk into my classroom everyday because I know my students will give their all to achieve their goals. Their excitement for learning keeps me going each and every day.

I have the great pleasure of having a very diverse population of students in my classroom, each very unique in learning style and academic capabilities.

New York City is home to a diverse culture and a wide range of socioeconomic statuses, which are seen throughout the city and in each one of the classrooms. We have a high percentage of students who receive free or reduced-price lunch.

My Project

When we left the school building in March of 2020, no one knew what to expect. We were just trying to survive. It was a few weeks later that I realized my students didn't have the materials they needed to be successful at home. I do not want the same thing to happen this school year. I want to be ready! I want to supply my students with a lot of the materials they are going to need to be successful, whether they are at school or remote.

My student's families have gone through so much during this pandemic, I want to alleviate the stress of having to buy back-to-school supplies.

During this tumultuous COVID-19 time, the air purifier will help us to feel just a little safer in the classroom during blended learning. The air purifier will give us peace of mind that we are keeping the air around us as clean as possible. My student's families are people who need to work to survive, they have to go back to work which means the kids have to go to school (remote is just not an option for these families). The air purifier is a huge necessity for our classroom.

This school year, there will be no sharing of any materials, which means each student needs to have their very own crayons, colored pencils, scissors, personal whiteboards, markers, etc. These materials will really help my students whether they are remote or in the classroom. You will be making a huge difference in the lives of these families and of this teacher!
