This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school in Florida where most of our students come from low income families. I teach pre-k. They are 4 years old that are getting acclimated to the school community. I'm trying to build a community to teach and expose my students to things they won’t learn at home. My students all come very eager to learn. I'm trying to keep that eagerness alive. I want to create a community in which they learn to become independent.

My Project

Computer Science is really big now and it’s just going to get bigger. There’s many jobs out there in Computer Science. I will begin to talk to my students about computer science and the opportunities. My students are already expose to technology and I want to introduce them to something new. I want to introduce and expose them to coding. Research has shown that not too many women get into the world of Coding. I have more girls than boys. With this laptop, my students will start learning and getting exposed to coding. They will use the puzzles and lessons on code.org to learn all about coding.
