Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach kindergarten in a Title I school where the majority of the students receive free lunch, come from low income households, and their primary language is not English. This makes reading, writing, math, science and social studies difficult for them to master.

Despite all of these obstacles, my students come to the classroom full of enthusiasm, questions, joy and an eagerness to learn.

My Project

I am requesting journals, pencils, erasers, small white boards with markers and erasers, sharpener and crayola for my kindergarten students to learn and master their writing skills necessarily to be able to succeed in their next step: First grade.

During centers they will have the opportunity to use their white boards to practice the hand writing in our small groups.

They would write in their journals independently, at their desks, demonstrating what they have mastered in the small groups. These journals give them the opportunity to draw a picture. Then they color the pictures, which they love and enjoy.
