This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

For the past three years, I have been building our dance program at our school, where not only rhythm and dance is fostered but fitness as a big focus point. With an increased rate of childhood obesity, I strive to make a difference. My students have welcomed dance fitness with open minds. They are always excited to walk into my studio and willing to learn. I vibe so much off their energy that at times I forget I am working because they make dance fitness that enjoyable! Many of my students are non-native speakers and as we all know music is a universal language. I believe, DANCE teaches and builds self-efficacy and for this reason, with your help, I strive to give my students the best classroom experience.

My Project

Getting in Shape. My curriculum includes weight lifting, aerobics, and more through dance. With your help, I am hoping to build our fitness program. Our school is limited in resources and as we all know gym equipment can be pricey. I recently purchased some medicine balls and fitness balls and would like to have a rack to store them. Therefore, preserving them. As of now, they are laying on the floor. With four dance classes and over 100 girls, I am needing more equipment and places where I can store away equipment neatly. I am asking for dumb bells rack set, fitness balls, and storage items.
