My Students

My students need organization...HELP! The mandated curriculum for two languages makes it necessary to find smooth transitions and great organization; therefore, my students need a personal place for their belongings on their seats.

Procedures and routines are an important component to a classroom running both efficiently and effectively.

By having storage on the back of student chairs, students would have their own personal space to keep their materials. I have a dual language 1st grade class with 44 students being serviced during two separate group times per day. My students have one thing in common, they come to school ready to learn! Many of my students come from difficult home situations and they rely heavily on the consistency, routines, and surety that school provides for them. Most of my students receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch.

My Project

I am requesting the personal organizers because I think that students should feel a sense of ownership in the classroom. They should have a spot that is all theirs. The chair storage will provide them with just that. Students will have their own place to put their own materials. This class project is important because it will help to minimize classroom transition time thus maximizing instruction and student practice time. One of the biggest contributors to a successful classroom is having procedures in place and these storage pieces help contribute to establishing a special place for students to keep their everyday materials.

These materials are imperative due to the allotment of time given for students to focus on their curricular endeavors.
