The 6-slot "mail" center is the perfect place to store their materials for their stations each day. With the 6 different colored trays I will be able to assign a color to each group. This will make it easy for the groups to see exactly which tray to grab and get started on their activity.
By having this area in my classroom it will foster independence in their learning.
I feel it is important to give students the chance to take responsibilities within the classroom. This will help limit the transition time of getting out materials and give students more time to work. Having multiple units will allow me to set up more station activities or create a space for reading and math centers. It is always a favorite part of their day and I want to make it the best experience from start to clean up.
