My Project

The transition to middle school can be shocking for some students, but that doesn't mean there aren't things educators can do to set them up for success. One thing we can do is to help our 5th graders develop the organizational skills needed to succeed in a new school with new challenges.

Organizational skills is the #1 skill our 6th grade teachers said they wished their students had practiced before coming to middle school.

In the elementary setting, students aren't required to use those skills the same way they do in middle school. For example, 5th graders may use a single folder to keep track of their classroom assignments, whereas in middle school, they need to use a 3-ring binder to organize their assignments by class or subject.

By contributing to this project, you are directly helping my students grow these organizational skills as we rapidly near their transition to what comes next! Your contribution directly puts a 3-ring binder and all that goes into it directly in the hands of my 5th graders, allowing them to get a taste of what next year will be like for them. Thank you for helping me help them!
