My Students

My students come from a school where they all receive free breakfast and lunch. School is a very important part of their lives. It is the place that makes them feel safe and secure. Through generous donors we are able to help them have what they need.

My students love to read and are always looking for new books to read.

They rush into the library each day to try and see if the newest graphic novel has come back in.

My Project

My students need more graphic novels for the media center.

I used to get so excited about going to the library and picking out that special book.

Many of our students do not go to the local library. Most of the books they read come from our school media center. The kids get so excited about coming to the library. Although our graphic novel section has grown this past year and a half these books are always checked out with a long waiting list.

This is my second year as our school's media specialist. I want to purchase graphic novels for them to read. The students coming to the media center this year love to read. They read all the books they can get their hands on. I am working hard to find ways to bring books into the media center that they get excited about. Recently I did a media center survey to see what kinds of books my students want. Across the board students from first grade to fifth grade all wanted more graphic novels for our media center.

Whenever, I bring new books into the library the kids get so excited. They can hardly wait for me to put them out on the shelves. They would be so excited at the thought of getting more graphic novels.

By helping us purchase these books you would be helping our students start the journey to becoming life long readers.
