This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are ready to take over the world. They come to school each day ready to learn. These kids are able to put aside their struggles at home that may hold them back.

Our school is 98.4% free and reduced lunch.

Our entire district is considered 70% poverty. We try very hard to offer these students all of the resources and advantages that other schools often receive in more affluent communities.

Although my students face many challenges that are unimaginable to most, they still greet me each day with a loving smile and eagerness to learn. They never let their circumstances bring them down, and they thrive as best they can when given the resources and opportunities to do so. They make my heart full and teach me every day of the year.

My Project

These materials will help provide my students an opportunity to learn creatively through projects and activities that are aligned with our other subjects. Art is not a provided class in Kindergarten.

I want to be able to provide my students a creative outlet to explore their imagination while adding a more hands on, tactile experience to make learning fun!

For example, we will use modeling clay to create a structure they design for The Three Little Pigs story and explain why the wolf will not be able to blow it over. My students will use the paints and wiggly eyes to create different characters in their own vision they've heard about in stories. Most of my students come from a low socioeconomic background and do not get to have different art supplies at home. Therefore, these supplies will help provide them with different tools to let their imagination flow and find out what type of artists they can be!
