My Students

My students are beautiful, positive learners looking for a safe place to grow. I work with students one-on-one and in small groups to help them grow socially and emotionally. As the safe place in an unsettled world, my office is sometimes the only place my students can open up about their lives. Many of the students I work with are facing so many obstacles and challenges on top of the usual stressors of childhood. As the only counselor in a Title I school, I am always looking for ways to support my students in all areas of development.

My Project

The world of books open up a student's mind to everything out there. By using books in my classroom, I am able to show my students a different way to view and see some of the world out there.

Working together my students are able to learn about empathy and understand how a different situations have multiple different perspectives.

Through literature, we can explore topics of diversity, friendships, environmental issues, and so many other topics that students do always experience everyday. Reading and challenging how we view different situations can help my students recognize the importance of learning the point of view of others.
