My Students

My students are five and six-year-old​ kindergartners at a Title I public school in Philadelphia. Being a Title I school, many of the students live in poverty. For many of them, this is will be their first formal schooling experience.

I have also had the pleasure of being the ESOL friendly classroom teacher for the last 8 years.

This means that many of my children speak limited or no English at the beginning of the year. By providing a print-rich environment, daily guided reading during Blended Learning and small group instruction, my students are sure to succeed!

My Project

My students are currently using old, wooden chairs. Many of these chairs and tables have cracks and sharp edges. The students are getting their fingers pinched and getting splinters! By providing my students with updated places to sit, they can focus more on their learning and less on getting hurt.

The various colors of the tables will also help support differentiated learning through small group work and instruction.

Students can feel like they belong to a team! The bright, colorful tables will also help support creating a warm and welcoming learning environment for my students! Not only will these tables support my upcoming class, but so many future classes as well!
