My Students

My students are amazing. As a first year teacher I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but these kiddos put my mind at ease the moment that I met them. We are in a rural community nestled between the beaches and peanut farms. In addition, we have a large of amount of moms and dads that are serving our country. We are uniquely diverse.

We are also a Title One Targeted Assist School which means that we have many of our students on free or reduced lunch, but not enough to qualify for funding. So, in order to provide resources we have to dip into our personal accounts. As a new teacher there are so many things I would love for my children. I am committed to providing opportunities for my enthusiastic learners. My ultimate goal is to inspire my students to want to dig deeper, and to motivate them to be the best version of themselves. Teaching is my calling; of that I have no doubt.

My Project

It is important that children feel comfortable in their environment. The more comfortable they are with me and the classroom, the more likely they will be to open their minds to continual, daily learning. The supplies and materials I am requesting are purely for comfort and atmosphere in my classroom.

As a new teacher, I received the standard issue chairs and desks for my kiddos. As I see them moving around the classroom, working on their centers, and collaborating with each other, it is clear to me that my florescent lighting and hard seats may not be entirely conducive to all learning styles. With the different colored chairs, the balance ball chairs, and even the lamps and string lights, my kids will feel more at home. I also know that my students love to see colorful and vibrant worksheets and centers activities. I've also added printer cartridges to my list to ensure my kiddos continually get those visually stimulating products throughout the year!
