My Students

When entering Team 16, students are ready and eager to learn and devour information. My kids are amazing individuals with personalities that liven up our classroom. When they are not in the middle of exploring, reading, investigating etc. you can often see them helping one another. They are so kind and thoughtful that they came up with a "Positive Shout Out" box. Students created a place in the classroom where they can go and write positive notes about their classmates that are then read aloud on Friday afternoons. I have been teaching for about 13 years now, and I must say that this team of third graders have really been teaching me a lot!

My Project

We are working very hard on becoming good readers and building our stamina. Just like adults, kids need a comfortable place to cozy up to a good book. This is where Read & Relax Book Station comes in.

If this project were to be fully funded, I would create a wonderful reading nook for my students to go to and get lost in a book.

This area would become theirs to go to on a daily basis, not only during Reader's Workshop but throughout different times of the day. I want my students to feel special and have a learning environment that encompasses how special I think each and everyone of them are.

By being able to gift them with items to make their work easier and more special I feel that they will continue to work hard. A little appreciation goes a long way to students and my students give so much
