My Project

Hi, and thanks for taking a look at my project request. I teach honors physics at a high school in LAUSD. My students work very hard and build up stress, so this restorative space would be helpful for them to balance their emotions and recharge their batteries. I've selected a visually appealing set of furniture for our corner space in the classroom consisting of a rug, small couch, and two chairs, plus a nice coffee table with storage for all of the social emotional tools to be nicely displayed and/or kept inside.

Students will be able to use the space to work on assignments in a relaxed, college-like space, get tutoring, and/or use the resources to work on their social-emotional skills if they're having a challenging day.

I plan to go over the resources with each class to discuss how to use them independently. I'm also a trained school counselor, and will use the resources one on one with students if they would prefer my assistance.

I'm sure the students will also enjoy helping me assemble it, plus it will enhance the look of the classroom and make it a more welcoming space.
