My Project

I am a third-grade teacher in Akiachak, Alaska. Every day, I get the blessing to teach 15 wonderful students. My students love to help others, learn new things, and have an amazing sense of humor. They always make me laugh! One of my favorite parts of the day is our carpet time. It is a time when we can come together to check in with each other, encourage one another, read stories, play games, and learn!

My students spend a lot of time sitting on the floor.

The floor is hard, cold, and very uncomfortable. A simple cushion will mean the world to my students. I can only imagine their excitement and thankfulness to have a comfortable seat during carpet time. I can already imagine their giant smiles!

Each one of my students is so different and learns in different ways. I would love to be able to have some seating options so students can learn in the way that is best for them! For example, wiggle stoles would help some of my energetic students keep their feet firm on the floor and focus during work time. Clipboards would allow my students to find alternative seating around the classroom and have something to write on. With these items, my students would be able to personalize their learning based on what is best for them. I know it would mean the world to my students and their learning.
