Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an enthusiastic and motivated group of 4th graders in a self-contained (small class) special education classroom. We LOVE learning and we do so in different ways- seeing, hearing, touching and discussing. My class is a diverse group of learners with challenges such as autism, mental retardation, learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, cognitive delays and learning English as a second language. I strive every day to engage students in learning with entertaining and motivating lessons that capture their attention and spark their thinking. To accomplish this, I need to use many colorful visuals, tactile items and multimedia daily.

In order to set-up and maintain my dynamic classroom, I use all available resources and frequently go above and beyond to promote a conducive learning environment.

This has become very difficult considering tight budgetary constraints and limited resources at my Title 1 school. Therefore, I am asking for help in providing the supplies and resources I need to continue to promote an effective and enjoyable learning experience for my students.

My Project

Differentiation of instruction is the key to success in today's classrooms. Now more than ever, teachers need to meet each individual students' learning needs with a customized instructional plan! Therefore, I need a wealth of materials and resources to get the job done.

The students in my class need additional resources such as Scholastic News and an online subscription to Brainzy, in order to address their learning deficits and different learning styles.

Additionally, the extra math practice workbooks, vocabulary cards, and differentiated instruction resource book will help me provide targeted instruction to meet their needs. My students will be able to get the extra practice they need in the subject areas they need most.
