My Project

Parents in North Carolina can play the magnet school lottery to win a placement for their child in a language immersion classroom within the public school district. Learning a foreign language at an early age has been widely proven to broaden a child's capacity to learn additional languages and broaden their world view. I love the parent initiative of my students and their desire to have the best education for their children!

However, resources written in German are limited and not provided by the school district.

Please help me rise to the challenge of my first year teaching in a German immersion 2nd grade classroom although I am faced with the limited resources of a public school budget!

Having a diverse selection of German, math, science, and social studies resources written in German will help my students immerse themselves in the German language. Dictionaries will help span the bridge between English and German. We hope to also listen to books online and will, therefore, need a good supply of headphones. We also need bilingual books in English/German, picture books, and stories in German.

My goal for this project is to heighten student engagement in learning and provide access to materials written in German!
