My Students

The diversity within my classroom​ and school as a whole represents a growing trend in our society; we could at minimum display over 64 different countries' flags if we represented each one. Their backgrounds are as extensive and varying, enriching our school for the better.

Many of my students are learning English as a Second Language and for many, my classroom will be their first experience in a school.

Setting the stage for a positive learning experience is what the early years of education are all about! It is my job as their teacher to facilitate their learning, to provide them with a safe place to learn, make mistakes, and grow.

My Project

This year has brought an onslaught of new challenges none of us ever thought we'd experience. My students have began their kindergarten school year virtually and many are beginning to make the transition back to school VERY soon. School will be different than they may remember from PreK and for many, this will be their first time in a school.

Kindergarten should be fun and exciting!

I want to give my students the joy that comes along with kindergarten; learning through play. During recess this year, students will be required to maintain social distancing. In as such, many will not have their own individual play basics; like a jump rope or chalk.

I'm hoping to be able to provide each of my students with their own chalk and jump rope for recess time. Additionally, I'm requesting gross motor play items in the way of stepping stones and a balance beam, that can be used while distancing and sanitized after use.
