My Students

I absolutely love teaching first grade, and love my firsties! I feel truly fortunate to work with such creative students each and every day. They are from diverse backgrounds, and always come together as a class family! The achievements of my students inspire me to continue to improve myself as a teacher for their academic success! This project will allow me to go to the Get Your Teach On Conference in Orlando to do just that!

My students are first graders who need engaging lessons that include a lot of interaction with hands-on materials!

A typical day in my classroom is extremely interactive and engaging. My students are always moving and working together in an exciting and collaborative learning environment. Going to a regional first-grade conference will allow me the opportunity to learn from other first grade teachers and facilitators who have found effective strategies that have been successful with their students. In my state, there are limited opportunities for professional development that are explicitly for first-grade teachers.

My Project

It would be an experience like no other for me to attend the Get Your Teach On Conference in Orlando, Florida! This conference will allow me to grow professionally in various ways. First, this conference offers a wide variety of breakout sessions from math to literacy. There are also endless new ways to incorporate hands-on learning opportunities in the classroom. This conference will present research-based strategies that can be incorporated in K-5 classrooms to reach our diverse learners. Educators will be able to share countless ideas of how to better reach students through interactive mini sessions and hands-on learning opportunities during the two days. I will be able to walk away from the conference with new strategies to share with my colleagues at school and other teachers in my community.

This conference will allow me to connect with teachers across the country to learn best practices, strategies, and techniques to create an engaging and successful classroom.

Sessions include lessons on reading, writing, science, STEM, social studies, and math. The conference has a strong focus on math and using math manipulatives. This will help me learn new ways to present difficult concepts. As a teacher, I am a lifelong learner who is eager for any opportunity to meet other educators and learn from them to provide more engaging lessons for my first graders!
