My Students

My students love coming to school to learn and grow. We work hard from the time they arrive until the bell rings. They are trying to catch up to peers in wealthier communities and meet the high expectations we have for them. They cannot learn unless we are providing materials and experiences for them to do so.

I teach in a diverse, urban neighborhood school where many students are learning how to be safe and respected.

My school is a Title I school and every student receives free breakfast and lunch daily. Many students come from families that cannot provide all the essentials for back to school. Some families try to provide what they can, but we need to share materials inside the classroom. Please help us to start off 2016 - 2017 in the best way possible - Learning!

My Project

Some of my earliest memories were being read to as a child. This inspired me to become a voracious reader. Many of my students do not have an adult at home who can read to them regularly. My students love hearing stories come to life.

What better way to become a reader than by listening to a fluent adult read a favorite story.

I am in desperate need of a listening center. My students will be able to independently work at the listening center. Having multiple copies of a book will ensure they can see the pictures and words while the book is being read to them. My students will enjoy new stories every day.
