Help me give my students hands-on science activities to foster a love for science. Owl pellets will be used for analyzing the food chain of a barn owl. Ice cream will be made to understand matter.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My 5th grade middle school science class is a place of hands-on, higher-level thinking, and discovery. Students will learn this year several units using the New Generation Science Standards over Matter, Ecosystems, Earth's systems, and Space and Gravity. I teach up to 196 students per week.
They are excited to come to science class to explore and learn these new concepts.
They are excited to challenge their minds, use critical thinking skills, and learn with as much hands-on materials as possible.
My Project
Students will be engaged while learning how to observe, analyze, record data, and reflect on essential questions. The materials requested will allow students hands-on experiences with ecosystems, states of matter, and classification system. Supplies such as zip-locks, spoons, sugar packets, coffee cups and vanilla will go toward a lesson teaching the states of matter. Other materials such as owl pellets will be used to teach the food chain process in ecosystems. Jelly beans will be used to learn how scientist classify organisms using a dichotomous key.
Students will get to experience science in the real world.
My classrooms will have the opportunity to be engaged in real-life situations where scientific properties can be analyzed. Consumable materials are essential in this process. These materials will allow students to have hands-on access to the activities where they can learn by themselves or with groups and not just a demo by the teacher.
