My Students

I teach a large second grade class made up of 18 eager and ready to learn seven and eight-year-old students in a high poverty area of South Carolina.

My students come from a low-income, rural area of South Carolina, but are very eager to learn new things. They attend a large elementary school that houses prekindergarten through fifth grade.

My Project

Our school adopted the Daily 5 last year. In order to free up space to allow for more bean bags, fluffy pillows and comfy saucer chairs, I have revamped our classroom and am doing my best to offer my students comfortable areas to read, read and read some more. Now we need your help to complete our room. We need a smaller table for small group work. While students are rotating through the stations, I will be working with groups of students providing small group instruction. Having a half moon table will allow us to gather in a way that doesn't hinder the students in other stations while giving us plenty of room to work.

Your donation will help my class by allowing students to work closely in a small group to achieve a common goal.

The students will be more engaged and in turn, will learn the material in a more effective manner. This table will allow my students to interact more with each other and with me.
