Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My second graders crave and need movement throughout the day. The option to have comfy seats or lap desks for different areas of the room allows students the movement they need. This also provides them with opportunities to practice assessing what will help them learn best. Building this type of self-awareness has always been a focus in my classroom. The ability to turn some of the chairs into "wiggle chairs" are great for the students that need to move at their seat but do not like the wiggle stools.

By providing these resources for my second graders, you will give them the chance to improve their focus and in the long run, their learning.

They will be able to move at their seat, or choose to work in different areas around the room. At times, the flexible seating options will improve independent focus, and at other times, students will be able to use them to gather in small groups. These resources will improve collaboration as it allows students to sit on the floor comfortably, and when they feel comfortable, they can focus on sharing their ideas and building upon those of their classmates. All in all, these resources will improve independent and group learning.
