As a teacher for students from low-income/high poverty areas, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. They have come to our school due to the challenges they have faced in the regular school setting, and have not done well.
Our program strives to help these students by giving them the social, emotional, and educational tools they will need to function and hopefully thrive in a regular school setting after completing their time with us, which will allow then to complete their schooling with their peers.
My Project
Students will use these basketballs, footballs and frisbees to get out of the classroom and play appropriately. This will foster teamwork and a healthier lifestyle for our middle school students who are used to spending long periods of time sitting in class for in front of video games. This sports equipment will allow me to take them outside and have them engaged in team sports and exerciser.
By promoting heath and sports activities appropriately, I am hoping that the students will also then be able to sit and focus while in a classroom.
knowing that they will be able to run and work of energy during gym.
