My Students

I love my students and I love my school! My classroom is an open concept classroom. Every year (10 years now) I work with my partner teacher to teach 50 – 64 fifth grade students.

Our students are amazing!

Our community is diverse and thriving. Example: Last year on the last day of school, after the school day had ended, I heard a knock on my classroom door. I opened the door and found three of my students from the year before. They said hi and explained that they were there to help clean the room. "What," I thought, "they just finished their last day of 6th grade at a nearby middle school and they are coming here to help clean their old room!" They cleaned and organized better than any adult I could have asked to help me. These are my students! These are the amazing people that come from our school!

My Project

These resources (binder with dividers) will help each student stay organized. Students will also be able to help each other stay organized because we will all have a binder system that we can setup together. 5th grade is the last year of elementary school and then students are on to middle school. Developing strong organizational skills now will help them this year and in their middle school years ahead.

Every year we help students stay organized.

Some students use a binder and divider system, some use folders, and some struggle to have an efficient system for organizing their work. In our classroom the binder and divider system works best and this project would allow every student to have the supplies to stay organized. Also, we can all work together to help each other use our binder effectively throughout the year.
