My Project

Students spend so much time looking at screens. TV screens! Computer screens! Cell Phone screens! On those inclement weather days that call for indoor recess, I'd love to expose my students to some cool and fun board games. There are many advantages to middle school students playing board games. They help students develop critical thinking skills. Board games often require strategic thinking, decision making, and planning. Many board games present challenges that require students to find solutions. Some games involve counting, calculating, reading instructions, and interpreting rules, which can reinforce math and literacy skills.

Board games encourage students to communicate with one another, whether it's discussing strategy, negotiating, or simply having fun conversations.

These games will help build the social skills of my students. Board games provide a safe environment for students to learn how to handle success and failure gracefully, teaching them good sportsmanship. They also offer a break from academic pressures and allow students to unwind in a fun and engaging way!
