My Project

Developing a love for reading is so important in the lives of young children. To help develop this love of reading, we explore many types of books in our classroom. As we read, we are learning how to collect information from nonfiction texts as well as investigate the amazing imaginary world of fiction. Students naturally want to create. By combining the love of creating with the texts we are reading, I am hoping to develop an understanding of the text as well as add to the enjoyment of reading.

After reading, we will stop and create!

The students will use construction paper and paint provided by this project to create characters from fiction texts, as well as people, animals, and things they are learning about in nonfiction texts. By allowing them to build a connection between books and art, I hope to encourage and grow their love of reading.
